Terms of Service

Welcome to QuestBoard. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and QuestBoard ("QuestBoard", "we", "us", or "our") and govern your access to and use of our website, progressive web app, and related services (collectively, the "Platform").

By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. What QuestBoard Is

QuestBoard is a community odd-job marketplace based in the Philippines. Users post tasks ("quests") with a reward; other users ("workers") browse, claim, negotiate, and complete them. QuestBoard provides the marketplace, private messaging, an escrow mediation service, and a reputation system.

QuestBoard is a neutral venue and mediator. We are not a party to the agreements between posters and workers, not an employer, and not a labor agency. Quests are arranged directly between users.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract.
• You must provide accurate, current information and keep it up to date.
• You must use the Platform in compliance with all applicable Philippine laws.

You are responsible for all activity under your account. Keep your credentials confidential and notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

3. Accounts and Verification

• You may register using email and password or Google sign-in.
• To post a quest, you must complete identity verification and provide a valid GCash number. Verification requires submitting identification documents, which an administrator reviews. We may approve or reject verification at our discretion.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that submit false information, fail verification, or violate these Terms.

4. How Quests Work

1. Posting — A verified poster creates a quest with a title, description, category, location, and reward. The reward is the worker's take-home pay.
2. Claiming — A worker claims an open quest.
3. Negotiation — Poster and worker privately negotiate a price in chat. The deal locks only when both sides independently propose the same amount.
4. Acceptance — Both parties accept the terms (the poster also sets a completion due date). This forms the contract record.
5. Funding (escrow) — The poster transfers the total amount (worker payout + platform fee) to QuestBoard's designated GCash account. An administrator confirms receipt.
6. Work & confirmation — The worker marks the job done; the poster confirms it was delivered.
7. Release — An administrator releases the worker's payout. QuestBoard retains the platform fee.

Quests, prices, deadlines, and the quality of completed work are the responsibility of the users involved. QuestBoard does not guarantee that any quest will be posted, claimed, completed, or paid.

5. Payments, Escrow, and Fees

• Platform fee: QuestBoard charges a 10% platform fee, added on top of the worker's payout. The worker receives the negotiated amount in full; the poster pays the fee for escrow protection and mediation.
• Escrow: Funds are transferred via GCash to QuestBoard's designated account and held until the work is confirmed. QuestBoard does not process card payments or store financial credentials.
• Refunds & disputes: If a deal is voided (e.g. overdue, disputed, or reported), an administrator may cancel the escrow. Refunds are handled manually via GCash. QuestBoard mediates in good faith but does not guarantee any particular outcome.
• Taxes: You are solely responsible for any taxes arising from your use of the Platform, including income earned as a worker.

6. Conduct Rules

You agree not to:

• Post illegal, fraudulent, dangerous, or prohibited tasks.
• Harass, threaten, defraud, impersonate, or abuse other users.
• Circumvent the escrow or fee system by arranging payment off-platform to defeat the protections these Terms provide.
• Post false, misleading, or spam content, or manipulate ratings.
• Submit forged identification or payment information.
• Attempt to access other users' private data, enumerate IDs, scrape, or interfere with the Platform's security or operation.
• Use the Platform for money laundering or any unlawful purpose.

You may report misconduct from within a chat thread. Administrators review reports and may resolve or dismiss them, and take action including warnings, escrow voids, suspension, or termination.

7. User Content

• You retain ownership of the content you submit (quests, messages, profile info, ratings).
• You grant QuestBoard a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and process your content as needed to operate the Platform.
• You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to post it.
• We may remove content that violates these Terms or the law.

Ratings and feedback you submit are immutable once posted and contribute to the other party's public reputation. Submit them honestly.

8. Notifications

You may opt in to push notifications about your quests, messages, and transactions. You can disable them at any time through your browser or device settings. On iOS, web push works only when the Platform is installed to the home screen.

9. Termination

• You may stop using the Platform and request account deletion at any time.
• We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure, or for prolonged inactivity.
• Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. payment obligations, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will survive.

10. Disclaimers

• The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
• QuestBoard does not verify the truth of every quest, the legality of every task, the quality of work, or the conduct of users beyond the verification and moderation described here.
• You interact with other users at your own risk. QuestBoard is not responsible for the acts or omissions of users, the completion or quality of any quest, or any dispute between users.
• We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Philippine law, QuestBoard and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Platform.

To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Platform shall not exceed the total platform fees you paid to us in the three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or PHP 5,000, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless QuestBoard and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your content, your interactions with other users, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version with an updated "Last updated" date and, where changes are material, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of the Philippines, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection venue rules.
